HOW IS SOCIAL NETWORKING GROWING?
Social networking has grown extremely fast over the past four years. The expansion to business and media use has encouraged even more individuals to join the media world as well. "How many followers do you have? How many friends do you have? How many re-tweets did you get today?" These are all simple questions that are asked in casual conversations.. everyday. From 1 to now billions of users, social networking has increased drastically. You can now connect with people sitting next to you, or sitting 8,000 miles away in China, in just seconds. It has connected the world globally.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO DECREASE IT?
In order to prevent society from encountering even greater barriers among individuals, people need to act now to decrease the growth of social networking. It needs to not be as dependent as it is today. Individuals need to experience life in reality rather than through the web. The only true ways to decrease this issue is to either eliminate social networking or to encourage yourself and others to not use social media as much as usual, or even at all. There is no regulations or laws to limit the use of social networking, so the only solution is for the community to act upon personal preferences. Today, social networking is the biggest distraction in productivity. Emails, Facebook "posts," twitter "tweets," Instagram "likes" flood peoples computers or mobile devices daily distracting individuals from what they need to get done. Social media needs to not be a number one priority.
